Hi, I'm Tahnee. I'm a globetrotter, avid ice hockey fan, and interdisciplinary researcher. A true third culture kid, born in Finland to Canadian and Slovak parents, I have a great passion for people and our shared environment, the Arctic in particular.
In 2018, I co-founded Women of the Arctic, a non-profit where I currently lead our research on the gender dimension of human and climate-induced pollution in the Arctic, and co-lead research on the gender dimension of Arctic observing systems as a part of two large projects, funded by Horizon Europe & Horizon 2020 respectively.
My broader research focuses on global environmental governance, complex systems theory, Arctic and oceans governance.
In 2023, I completed a Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Marine & Environmental Law Institute, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, where I continue as a Research Associate. I hold a Ph.D. and Masters in Global Governance from the University of Waterloo, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations & Economics from Franklin University Switzerland.
